How to Stop ParentSquare Notifications (Mostly)

October 18, 2026 · The DailyNest Team · 2 min read

ParentSquare's Digest setting turns a day of school posts into one evening summary. Here's how to switch it on, and what it won't quiet. The email announcing the app that would reduce email was the first of many. ParentSquare is fine software. Its own homepage promises to "combat information overload," with permission slips, payments, volunteering, and weekly newsletters in one place. Schools like that. The pitch to you was fewer scattered messages. The reality in your inbox is the app's notifications, plus the school's regular email, plus the teacher who still uses her own account, plus the PTA, which answers to no one. Here is how to make it quieter, and what to do about the part that will not quiet down.

Tame the app itself

ParentSquare lets you choose how posts reach you, separately for each school. Instant sends each post as it goes out. Digest sends one summary each evening. On the web, click your name, then Manage Account, then Notification Settings. In the app, tap the menu icon, then Account, then Notifications. Switch anything marked Instant to Digest. Direct messages are set on their own, by email, text, app, or any combination, so if the same message is buzzing your phone and landing in your inbox, pick one channel and turn the other off. If you have kids at two schools, check both, because the settings are per school.

What the digest does not fix

Some things get through no matter what you pick. ParentSquare says urgent alerts and attendance notices always come through. That's the point of them. Then there's everything that was never on ParentSquare. Turning it down to one summary a day fixes ParentSquare. It does not fix the inbox, because the school was never your only correspondent. The coach is on TeamSnap. The pediatrician is on MyChart. Aftercare invoices come from a billing system with a no-reply address. The class parent forwards everything twice. Each of these is reasonable alone. Together they are why you found out about picture day at 11:40 p.m.

The part where we admit why we wrote this

DailyNest reads the school and activity email you approve, then sends one briefing a day, at the time you pick, sorted by kid. The ParentSquare digest, the TeamSnap reminder, and the no-reply invoice land in it as three lines you can read while the coffee is still hot. Nothing new to check, nothing to type into a wall calendar. Read-only Gmail access, senders you approve, two weeks free, then $119 a year. If all you needed was the notification settings, you have them, no hard feelings. The next permission slip will let you know.

Stop drowning in school emails.
